HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas propias del tercer domingo de Adviento. La primera de ellas la hemos tomado, como estos domingos pasados, del profeta Isaías. Han resonado en nuestros oídos palabras como gozo, alegría. No han faltado llamadas a la fortaleza y al ánimo. Y todo ello porque los malos tiempos están a punto de cambiar; porque los que un día fueron llamados al destierro, hoy son invitados a volver de nuevo a la patria, a reconstruir el país, a recuperar lo que un día se perdió. ¡Ojalá que estas palabras del profeta las llevemos también a nuestras vidas y a nuestras personas! La venida de Jesús ha de producir en nosotros el mismo gozo que provocó en los desterrados de Israel la posibilidad de la vuelta a la patria.
La segunda lectura ha sido del apóstol Santiago. Nos ha hablado de la venida de Jesús, y de la paciencia a la que estamos convocados los que le esperamos. Y en esa espera paciente hemos de vivir en la fraternidad de los unos para con los otros, hemos de sabernos mantener fuertes en la fe y hemos de mirar el comportamiento de los profetas y de tantas personas buenas que supieron esperar, amando a sus semejantes y haciendo el bien. Esa es la mejor forma de esperar. Esa es la espera que Dios nos pide.
El relato del evangelio lo hemos tomado de San Mateo. En el domingo pasado, si recordamos, Juan Bautista hablaba sobre Jesús. En esta ocasión, es al revés: es Jesús el que habla de Juan el Bautista. Él, lo hemos escuchado, manda a sus discípulos para que le hagan a Jesús una pregunta que muchos se hacían. ¿Eres tú el que ha de venir o tenemos que esperar a otro? Muchos cristianos de hoy se hacen también esa misma pregunta. Bueno será entonces que recordemos, no solo las palabras de Jesús, sino sus obras. Esperémosle viviendo como Juan.
