SOLEMNIDAD DE CRISTO REY
En este último domingo del tiempo ordinario celebramos la Solemnidad de Cristo Rey del Universo; una fiesta cargada de simbología no al modo humano, sino al típico de Dios. Nunca dejará de sorprendernos el modo de actuar de Cristo, sus palabras y su entrega generosa y fiel hasta las últimas consecuencias.
Frente a Pilato, aquél que podía salvarlo del patíbulo de la cruz, Jesús es interrogado; poco le faltaba ya para dar el último paso hacia el sufrimiento y la muerte; había sido acusado por sacerdotes y fariseos, condenado de antemano por proclamar el Reino de Dios. Y ahora, era necesario el juicio civil y la condenación por parte del poder romano.
Él no era rey como lo entendían los representantes del sanedrín, puesto que no aspiraba a ningún poder político en Israel; al contrario, su reino se extendía más allá de Palestina. Todos los que son de la Verdad escucharán su voz y formarán parte de su Reino. No supieron aquellos letrados y entendidos descubrir la profundidad del mensaje y la realeza de Cristo.
Y sin embargo, pudiendo salvarse de la cruz, delante de Pilato, reafirma: Yo soy Rey, para eso he venido a este mundo, para ser testigo de la Verdad. Jesús sirve a la Verdad, obedeciendo hasta la muerte y muerte de cruz, como recuerda San Pablo años más tarde.
El lugar del ejercicio de su realeza, de su trono, será la cruz del Gólgota; su muerte representaría, para los que le habían condenado, que todo lo que había dicho y enseñado era falso, que no había sido testigo de la Verdad que tanto se gloriaba de profesar aquél Mesías. Y sin embargo, para nosotros cristianos, aquella muerte y sacrificio en cruz se ha convertido en salvación universal.
En Iglesia hoy celebramos con gozo que Cristo es Rey del universo, que vino a servir la Verdad, que entregó su vida generosamente por todos y que esta muerte ha dado la vida al mundo. Todo el que escucha su voz y cree en su palabra, acogiéndose a su salvación vivirá eternamente con Él. Cristo es Rey y para eso vino al mundo, para reinar, para sembrar la semilla de la paz, la justicia y el amor, para instaurar un nuevo tiempo de salvación.
Escuchar esta Verdad, acogerla en nuestro interior y vivir de acuerdo a sus exigencias es ser discípulo del Rey; nada más lejos de los reinos de este mundo que buscan los primeros puestos. Una vez más la Palabra nos sorprende y nos deja una hermosa lección y un camino a seguir. Que el año litúrgico que hemos concluido con esta Solemnidad nos haya acercado aún más a Cristo.
