2º DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
Privilegiados fueron en aquella ocasión Pedro, Santiago y Juan; testigos de un acontecimiento que más tarde recordarían y entenderían como una manifestación divina: la Transfiguración.
Esa experiencia de la transfiguración seguramente marcó la vivencia de los testigos; pero no podían contarlo a los demás hasta que no llegaran al culmen de la muerte y la resurrección de Cristo.
Elías y Moisés, representantes de los Profetas y de la Ley; y en medio Jesús, centro de la historia de la salvación y aquél que da sentido a la Palabra de Dios. Todo el Antiguo Testamento había anunciado la venida de un Mesías, de un salvador que reinaría y que implantaría el Reino de Dios. Ahora se había hecho carne, se había manifestado al pueblo y en aquél monte se estaba mostrando como tal.
Asustadizos, aquellos discípulos, y sin saber qué decir, pretender quedarse allí para disfrutar de aquel momento mágico; ¡no sabían lo que decían! Quizá no entendieron en plenitud el sentido de aquella manifestación divina; si les hubieran dicho en aquel instante que ese mismo Mesías que ahora resplandecía en el monte, sería tiempo después crucificado como un malhechor, seguramente no lo hubieran creído.
Allí, el Padre lo confirma como su verdadero Hijo, el que ama, en quien se complacía; entre las nubes, la transfiguración y la voz del Padre llegaba a plenitud uno de los momentos más importantes de la vida pública de Jesús: realmente ese hombre era el Hijo de Dios.
Pero no había acabado todo ahí; bajaron del monte, del lugar del encuentro, para continuar su misión y seguir anunciando el Reino de Dios. Jesús les impuso silencio a los testigos privilegiados de aquella manifestación; un silencio que debía perdurar hasta que resucitara de entre los muertos. Sólo a la luz de la glorificación de Jesús, de su resurrección, los apóstoles pudieron entender plenamente lo que significaría aquella manifestación para toda la humanidad.
En Cristo hemos visto el amor de Dios hecho carne, como plenitud de los profetas y de la Ley; pero la experiencia de la Pascua nos capacita para entender su mensaje y creer en que ha sido resucitado por el Padre es el centro de nuestra fe.
