Domingo II de Pascua. Ciclo B
El miedo llenaba los corazones de aquellos discípulos, porque lo mismo que le había sucedido a su Maestro podría ser también su propio destino. A pesar de haber realizado signos y prodigios, el pueblo había rechazado al Mesías y lo había crucificado; no podían entenderlo, no daban crédito a lo que habían contemplado en aquellas fiestas de pascua.
Con las puertas cerradas, para que no entrara nadie, los temerosos apóstoles reciben una visita inesperada: Jesús entra y se pone en medio y los saluda con el deseo de paz, ese gran don mesiánico. Al mostrarles sus manos y su costado para ratificar que era Él en persona, cambió su actitud: de miedo a alegría. No podía ser de otra manera: las esperanzas casi apagadas tras la crucifixión se veían reavivadas al máximo por el encuentro con el Resucitado.
Y del mismo modo que Jesús había cumplido la misión de su Padre, también aquellos hombres eran enviados al mundo a predicar el Reino de Dios, a continuar la obra salvadora: Es el Espíritu Santo el que los guiará en su misión, quien los santificará y quien los llenará de vida. En nombre de Dios perdonarán pecados o los retendrán; es la gracia de estar al servicio de los hombres con la fuerza del Espíritu y la misión de Jesús.
Pero Tomás no se encontraba en aquellos momentos y era lógico que no creyera lo que le decían sus compañeros: Hemos visto al Señor; necesitaba Tomás una prueba de que aquello era cierto, del mismo modo que la necesitaron sus compañeros al ver al Señor.
Y de nuevo Jesús se pone en medio del grupo de los apóstoles y les saluda con el don mesiánico: la paz; y esta vez dirigiéndose casi exclusivamente a Tomás le muestra sus manos y su costado para que se asegure de que es Él en persona. Ahora Tomás cree, necesitó la prueba, pero cree. Y ante la maravillosa presencia del Resucitado sólo queda reconocerlo como mi Señor y mi Dios.
Cristo es el Mesías, ha resucitado para nuestra salvación, se ha aparecido a los Apóstoles y sigue vivo y presente en medio de su Iglesia por medio de su Espíritu; ¿qué más pruebas necesitamos? Nos toca a nosotros recoger su testigo y ser portavoces de esta salvación ya realizada en Él.
Y para que creamos y tengamos vida en Él se han escrito muchos otros signos, hemos contemplado el testimonio de muchos cristianos que han vivido su fe con alegría, con paz. La luz de la resurrección ha borrado de una vez y para siempre la tiniebla que nos separaba de Dios. Démosle gracias y llenemos nuestros corazones de la verdadera alegría.
