HOMILÍA
Este primer domingo del mes de agosto coincide con la fiesta de la Transfiguración del Señor y es lo que estamos celebrando. Hace referencia, como ya sabemos, a un hecho extraordinario ocurrido en la cima del monte Tabor, donde un Jesús, que presiente cercanos los días de su Pasión y Muerte, quiere tener para con sus apóstoles predilectos un gesto que les dé fuerza en esos días dramáticos. Es un relato que, de alguna forma, nos resulta conocido porque lo solemos leer y meditar también, todos los años, en el tiempo de la Cuaresma.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Daniel. Sus palabras nos recuerdan a Jesús. Nos habla de un “Hijo de Hombre. De cómo a él se le dio poder, honor y reino. De cómo todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas lo sirvieron. Su poder es un poder eterno, no cesará. Su reino no acabará”. Las palabras del profeta nos recuerdan la grandeza que rodeó a la persona del Mesías esperado. Elevemos nuestra plegaria a este Jesús todopoderoso con la confianza de ser escuchados.
La segunda lectura, del Apóstol Pedro, nos ha hablado también del poder y de la grandeza de Jesucristo de los que ellos, los amigos de Jesús, habían sido testigos. Hace memoria también del hecho de la Transfiguración ocurrida en la cima de la montaña. Les invita, además, a prestar atención a las palabras de Jesús como se le presta a “una lámpara que brilla en un lugar oscuro” o en plena noche.
El relato del evangelio de Mateo nos ha descrito cómo fue aquel acontecimiento que impactó con fuerza en la mente y en el corazón de los apóstoles que lo vivieron. Cuando llegaron los días de la Pasión, encontraron la fuerza que necesitaban para afrontar los hechos de los que el Maestro estaba siendo protagonista. ¡Ojalá que, cuando nosotros pasemos por momentos duros, sintamos el consuelo del Transfigurado!
