Aquellos que el mismo Jesús había enviado de dos en dos, los mensajeros del evangelio de la vida, regresaban junto al Maestro para contarle lo que habían enseñado. Es necesario releer las líneas anteriores a este evangelio del domingo para entender que la misión que les fue conferida por manos de Jesús consistía en anunciar la conversión, el cambio de vida.
Ahora se sentaban junto al que les había encomendado la misión de predicar el Reino de Dios y seguramente emocionados por las experiencias vividas, detallan al Maestro cada una de las experiencias vividas. Sin embargo, lo único que quiere Jesús en estos momentos para ellos es estar en un sitio tranquilo junto a Él.
Sin nada para el camino, así habían realizado su misión aquellos doce escogidos; ahora disfrutaban de nuevo de las enseñanzas del que es para siempre su Señor; y es que el modo de hablar de Jesús era muy distinto al resto de los rabinos de su época, porque hablaba con autoridad; hasta tal punto que gente de todos los alrededores acudían a Él para escucharle.
Sólo la Palabra que procede de Jesús puede salvar y dar vida; así lo experimentan los doce apóstoles cada vez que se quedan con Él a solas; así lo viven también la multitud de personas que le siguen vaya donde vaya; Cristo, el Ungido por Dios, anuncia el Reino de la paz y de la justicia; unas palabras que llenaban de esperanza el corazón de los creyentes.
A nosotros también nos toca sentarnos en la tranquilidad de nuestra propia vida para descansar en Cristo, para disfrutar de su mensaje, para rumiarlo en profundidad y para captar el verdadero sentido de sus palabras; Jesús no podía hacer otra cosa, para eso había venido, para anunciar el año de gracia del Señor.
Sentirnos profundamente enamorados de Cristo para poder sentir su envío y su mandato de anunciar lo que hemos experimentado en nuestra propia vida; así nos sentiremos discípulos suyos, y así seremos ante el mundo los testigos que el Evangelio de la vida necesita para hacerse carne de nuevo en el mundo.
