HOMILÍA
Poco a poco, el tiempo pascual va llegando a su término. Pero, antes de que eso suceda, hemos escuchado unos textos bíblicos que han puesto ante nuestros ojos y ante nuestro corazón unas palabras muy importantes de Jesús que, de alguna forma, resumen todo su mensaje, toda su doctrina. Bueno es que las guardemos en nuestro interior, que las aprendamos de memoria, que las saquemos a la palestra en tantos momentos, que hagamos de ellas una guía para nuestro caminar como lo hicieron en su día los santos y santas de todas las épocas y lugares y hoy también muchos cristianos que aman a sus semejantes, que hacen el bien, que comparten lo que son y lo que tienen con los necesitados, con los que se encuentran en su caminar.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles y nos ha contado la conversión del primer pagano, el primer no judío que optaba por Jesús. Se abría así la puerta a una nueva realidad en la que ya no habría límites de raza o cultura para poder ser cristiano. Nuestra Iglesia, como sabemos, se denomina “católica”, una palabra que significa “universal”. Todos los hombres y mujeres de cualquier país, sea cual sea su ley, su raza o su destino, están llamados a descubrir a Jesús, a conocer el evangelio, a formar parte de la Iglesia. Los misioneros encaminan sus pasos hacia cualquier lugar donde haya un ser humano para mostrarle el camino del amor de Jesús. Recemos para quela Buena Noticia llegue a todos.
La segunda lectura de este domingo ha sido obra del apóstol Juan y nos ha seguido insistiendo, como en semanas pasadas, de la importancia que, para un cristiano, tiene el mandamiento del amor. Eso sí, nos ha recordado, en esta ocasión, que Dios nos amó primero enviándonos a su propio hijo para que vivamos por medio de Él. También nos ha hecho la más bella definición que de Dios puede hacerse cuando proclamaba que “Dios es amor” y que nosotros solamente podemos decir que conocemos a Dios, si el amor ocupa el primer lugar en nuestra vida. El que ama se sabe cerca del Padre Dios.
El relato del evangelio de Juan nos ha conservado aquellas palabras de Jesús que, pronunciadas en el transcurso de la Última Cena, constituyen el corazón del evangelio, su resumen más perfecto. "Este es mi mandamiento, decía Jesús, que os améis los unos a los otros como yo os he amado". Palabras que encierran un mensaje hermoso, pero difícil de cumplir. No se trata solo de amarnos entre nosotros, sino de hacerlo como lo hacía el propio Jesús. Y Él nos amó hasta el final, hasta dar la vida. No podemos contentarnos con amar de cualquier manera, ni de amar solo a los que nos quieren bien, ni de amar hoy sí y mañana no. El amor que nos propone Jesús es exigente, fecundo y vital.
