HOMILÍA
Poco a poco, el paso de los días nos va acercando al tiempo de Cuaresma, ese tiempo en el que se nos hace una llamada apremiante a la conversión, a volvernos a Dios y a los demás. Pero, antes de emprender ese camino de conversión, somos invitados reflexionar sobre algunos textos bíblicos. La primera lectura de este domingo, sexto del tiempo ordinario, la hemos tomado del libro del Eclesiástico, un libro del Antiguo Testamento lleno de frases que resumen muy bien el tipo de vida que el Señor quiere para todos y cada uno de nosotros. Frases breves pero llenas de significado.
“El Señor ha puesto ante nuestros ojos y nuestra voluntad fuego y agua, vida y muerte y nos invita a elegir. Sus ojos miran a los que le aman. Él conoce todas las obras del hombre. A nadie obligó a ser impío, a hacer el mal y a nadie dio permiso para pecar”. Dios nos ama y quiere nuestro bien, pero ha puesto en nuestro corazón el don de la libertad. De nosotros depende, en gran medida, que elijamos obrar el bien. Cierto que es más fácil ser egoístas, buscar nuestro propio interés. Pero el Señor no nos obliga a ello. “Ancho y espacioso es el camino que lleva a la perdición y muchos van por él” nos dice Jesús en el Evangelio. ¡Ojalá que nosotros optemos por el camino del amor, de la entrega, de la generosidad! Más costoso, es verdad, pero que nos llevará a la vida.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los Corintios, nos ha recordado una frase cargada de esperanza: “Ni el ojo vio, ni el oído oyó, ni el hombre puede pensar lo que Dios ha preparado para los que le aman.” Que esta frase nos de fuerzas para elegir siempre lo que es grato a los ojos de Dios, aunque nos cueste, aunque sea más difícil, aunque muchas veces tengamos que sufrir por ello.
El relato del evangelio de San Mateo nos ha invitado no solo a evitar los pecados más graves, las acciones más ofensivas, sino también, aquellas otras más leves, pero que pueden preparar el camino para las graves. “Habéis oído que se dijo a los antiguos no matarás… pero yo os digo: “Todo el que se deja llevar de la cólera contra su hermano será procesado”. El amor al prójimo nos ha de llevar a esforzarnos también en los pequeños detalles. No podemos contentarnos con no hacerle un daño grave. También las pequeñas ofensas hieren, hacen sufrir, además de facilitar el paso hacia agravios de mayor importancia.
